At Springfield High School you can take French for up to four years.  You can also earn college credit in French through the College Now program. If you earn an A or B, you’ll get transferable Lane Community College credit in French.

You will learn to speak, understand, read, and write in French. You will also learn about France and its people and culture, and about other countries where French is spoken.

Why study French? Did you know that French is spoken on all continents of the world? It is second only to English on the internet. Many words are similar in French and English, and you will find that understanding French may be easier than you expect.

Learning French will help prepare you for your university studies, and help you with your skills in English. French is the second most common second language worldwide. If your dream is to travel and explore the world, especially Europe, Canada, Africa, Asia or Eastern Europe, you will find that knowing French will help you all along the way.
