Course Description:  This course in hospitality is meant to give students an overview of the tourism and hospitality industry.  It will also provide an overview of hospitality management and cover the growth and development, organization, and structure of all functional areas of the lodging and food served industry.  There will be many guest speakers form different segments of the industry.  Everything form multicultural and business etiquette to phone skills will be discussed.  At the completion of the course, students will be certified by the State of Oregon Tourism Department in customer service, will take the Oregon Food handlers Card exam and will have participated in a job shadow experience.  Students will also have an opportunity to travel with the class to Portland on Amtrac.  We will be touring the Portland Convention Center and Downtown hotels (Cost per student will be approximately $25.00/ this is not a required activity)
