Global Warming: Fact or Fiction? Most scientists today agree that global warming is a fact. However, another question remains: What are we going to do about it?
The main cause of global warming is the release of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels (oil, coal, and natural gas) represented 82% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in 2006. Global warming will almost certainly affect you and your Generation Z compatriots—unless we immediately take steps to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
Working in small groups, we are going to investigate nine alternatives to fossil fuels. Hopefully, some combination of these alternatives will offer a real solution for reducing global warming.
